How much are we progressing

In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

It is so difficult to measure progress when it comes to the progress of your existence. We have a way of measuring progress in every other aspect of our lives, except when it comes to the most important aspect. We measure meticulously how we are progressing in our education using degrees and certificates as milestones. We measure progress in our careers based on the titles we have and the salary we are receiving. We measure progress in our home life by our marriage and children we have. But how do we measure the growth of our humanity or spirituality?

Without having a clear standard for this measurement, we won't be able to succeed in life and we will wander aimlessly like a blind sailor in a tumultuous ocean in the night of the dark. We will never know where we are in the ocean or whether we are still above the water or we have already sank deep below.

With every passing moment of our lives, we are either growing or we are shrinking.

The easiest way I can measure myself is seeing at this very moment, how much do I feel the presence of God and that will tell me where I am.
